Bollywood and White towns of Andalusia

Olvera with its church and Moorish castle

Taking a trip back in time, I think year 2011, the India movie industry came to the south of Spain looking for its beautiful outdoor scenery and exotic flamenco flavor.  They shot scenes in several white towns of Andalusia, and came up with a blockbuster production, You don't live Twice.  The song Señorita, from the movie, became an instant hit in India and around here too.  Even though it is several years old, I love to pull it out of my music drawer and hear it over and over again.  It speaks to me about summer, warm weather and friends.

No surprise this is a favorite spot for filming movies.  Andalusia is dotted with beautiful white washed towns on the hills that you can spot from miles away.  There is even a famous blue town Júzcar, used for the Smurfs movie,  it was a big gamble for the town to go blue.   Anyway, these are small towns on the hills with narrow streets and slow paced life.  Many have excellent restaurant where game or mushrooms are the star dishes served.

The Bollywood movie "You don't live twice", was filmed here in the South, the outdoor scenes were filmed on the towns of Setenil, Ronda, Grazalema, Alajar, Carmona, Riotinto, among others.

On our way to Olvera

Setenil de las Bodegas.  Buildings nestled in the rocks.

Setenil de las Bodegas.  Notice the street is under a large rock.

Utrera is a big town, with quiet corners like this one.
